Never had Gwen been so happy to see a tree,
it's magnificent crown green from the first outburst
of spring and the trunk tall and firm.
She ran, feeling tears of relief cling to her cheeks as
the shadows of the forest touched her face.
The moss under her feet felt like walking upon clouds,
the sweet dampness of the trees cooling her sweaty skin
and she closed her eyes.
Just breathing.
