här är part 4:P “Itachi, what do you want?” Sasuke snarled, looking at his brother with hate-filled eyes. Standing there, Itachi smiled softly, as if though he were recalling something or finding something very amusing. “I came here to tell you that you’ve lost, little brother.” Sasuke glared at him, “I haven’t lost anything!” Itachi cocked his head to the side a bit, “Have you not?” The tone of his voice was unnerving to Sasuke, who wondered what the elder Uchiha knew. Itachi paused a moment, letting Sasuke take in his words. Then, “I think you lost more then you ever thought possible.” “What did I lose?” Sasuke inquired, trying not to sound defeated. There was nothing he could have lost… he made sure of that. “So foolish, little brother. You’ve lost Naruto…” Itachi stated shortly, “to me.” Sasuke rose with a jump. Surprised he had fallen asleep, the Uchiha looked over at the blond-haired dobe that slept beside him. That dream was frightening; Sasuke had been so sure that he had not lost anything, and yet he had not thought of Naruto, his love. No, that dream was exactly that, a dream. That’s it; it was just his anxieties of getting Naruto back after being away for so long that had him on the edge. Besides, there was no way Naruto could love Itachi, nonetheless Itachi love Naruto. Relieved over his new revelation, Sasuke turned away from Naruto only to hear the blond groan. He was waking up… Naruto’s head throbbed, but why? The blond paused a moment, trying to control the pain of feeling his heart pulse in his head. Then it all came back to him; Itachi had knocked him out! “Itachi?” he called out, sitting up and reaching out into the darkness. It was nighttime and there was no fire yet, which was strange since Itachi would normally have a fire going for when the blond woke up. A very familiar hand caught his own and Naruto was pulled into a very familiar figure while a very familiar voice sounded out. “Naruto, you don’t have to worry anymore. I saved you from Itachi.” With that, Naruto fell to pieces: Itachi was gone. Sasuke was there, holding him, whispering soft nothings into his ear. Nothing Sasuke said connected with him now… not the way it use to. All he could think about was that his calm, patient protector was gone. How could this have happened? All of the sudden the blond remembered what Itachi had said--done--before he left him. The cover… he had said something about keeping the cover. Naruto finally recalled what Itachi had told him. “Naruto, if anyone ever comes for you, you must pretend that I have you hostage... because if you don’t you will never have the opportunity to go back to a normal life, and I would never be able to forgive myself if I had just let you lose that chance.” Upon recalling, the Naruto began to cry. “Shush, Naruto, everything’s okay… I’m here now and I’m never going to leave again, I promise.” Sasuke muttered, thinking that it was over him that the blond was crying over. Naruto pulled out of Sasuke’s arms; they felt empty to him now, just like Sasuke’s promise. Nothing about Sasuke intrigued him anymore; nothing made him stand in awe, blush in embarrassment, or go red with anger. Even in his touch there wasn’t a sense of rush that Naruto had gotten before. It was if though Sasuke had died to him. “I’ll get the fire started.” Naruto murmured, turning away and getting some wood Sasuke had already collected. Chuckling, Sasuke said, “No, dobe, unless you want to burn yourself… I will.” “I can handle making a fire, Sasuke. And don’t call me ‘dobe’! You lost that right the moment you left me in Konoha!” Naruto snapped, quickly piling some wood and leaves. “Naruto…” Sasuke whispered, looking hurt at Naruto’s outburst. Yet such was to be expected, Sasuke knew that. “Naruto, I’m going to make it up to you, every second that we lost I’m going to make up to you.” “Sasuke, you need to sleep…” Naruto replied, trying to place a loving tone in his voice. Sasuke hesitated before the blond pressed, “Please? I need to be with my own thoughts right now and you need some good sleep.” “Naruto?” the Uchiha said while he lied down. Naruto lit the fire, feeding it some before looking over at Sasuke and acknowledging him. “Yes?” “Promise you won’t leave me?” The raven-hair appeared to have something on his mind, although what Naruto didn’t know. Reluctantly, Naruto promised that he wouldn’t leave. It took a while, but Sasuke’s breathing slowed down to that of a sleeping person. Glancing over, Naruto whispered, “It was more than just time you lost with me, Sasuke… you lost my love and devotion for you as well.” Slowly, Naruto looked up at the stars, wishing, for the first time in a while, that Sasuke had never left him. Naruto shook his head--no, that’s not what he wanted. He wanted for Itachi to be back with him. Over the time Naruto had spent with Itachi, he had learned a lot more about being a ninja then ever. Itachi’s unlimited patience helped that out a lot as well. Not only that, but the feelings he had for the elder Uchiha were a lot stronger than for the younger one. His sense of happiness had been stronger, but his sense of self-worth had risen as well as the fact that he felt safer around Itachi. Yet now Naruto would have to go back to putting on the mask of happiness; a mask he had been without for the last couple of days with Itachi. He had enjoyed the other’s company… no one understood him like Itachi did. Not even Sasuke. “Naruto, you’re being awfully quiet.” Sasuke noted, sitting next to the blond. More time had past than Naruto had realized. Naruto shrugged, “Just tired.” With that, Sasuke pulled Naruto close to him, forcing the blond to place his head on the Uchiha’s shoulder. It felt uncomfortable at first, but Naruto tried to pretend it was Itachi and finally fell asleep. Naruto glanced around, trying to figure out where he was. It was a forest, that was obvious, and yet something was off about it. Something wasn’t right and the blond knew that if he didn’t find out what it was, then he would most likely die The teen flashed around, trying desperately to find the enemy, who he knew was there. Finally, Itachi strode out of the bushes and looked upon the kitsune with caring eyes, making Naruto’s heart swell up and drop at the same time. “Naruto,” Itachi said carefully, as if though he could taste the sweetness of the name in his mouth, “I’m so sorry I had to do that… but it was for your own good. Akatsuki are sending different people to get you, and they knew that you were with me. It would be better for now that you were with Sasuke…” The blond ran over to the elder Uchiha and threw his arms around him. “Itachi, I miss you so much.” he whimpered. “I know, kit.” Itachi responded, lightly returning the embrace, “I’ll try to get this job done as fast as possible… and if you see anyone who looks suspicious, stay away from them.” Naruto smiled softly into Itachi’s chest, “The stars know how great I am at noticing suspicious things.” Itachi smiled softly and nodded, “That’s why I kept telling you to stay on guard. Keep that promise you made me, kit. I would die if something happened to you.” “I will… and you promise me to come back alive?” The elder Uchiha stiffened for a moment. “I’ll try my best to get back to you, be nice to Sasuke every now and again... kit, remember ‘The kitsune lives with a fan even on cold days.’” And with that Itachi disappeared. Naruto woke up in Sasuke’s arms. Irritated, he shoved them off and destroyed the smoldering ashes, making sure they were out. Finally, he looked over at his ex-lover and composed himself. Itachi had said he wanted him to be nice to Sasuke “Sasuke, you need to get up.” Naruto said, gently shaking the teen. Onyx eyes, filled with alarm and worry, flashed open before the younger Uchiha shot up. “Are there shinobi preparing to attack?” he snapped, spinning his head around while trying to sense people. Naruto stifled a laugh. “No, Sasuke… we need to get to town and eat something.” Breathing out a sigh of relief, Sasuke dropped his guard and grinned at the blond. “Dob--Naruto, don’t scare me like that again. You nearly gave me a heart attack.” Naruto shrugged and rose. To be honest, it felt weird begin around Sasuke. Normally Itachi woke Naruto in the morning, but when he didn’t the blond would wake him up; he was always very calm and collected about it, never freaking out. Finally the two set off, both very quiet. Naruto had forgotten he use to be very hyper and never shut up until Sasuke said, “Is something wrong? You’re very quiet right now.” “Just thinking.” Naruto replied uncharacteristically before going on, “Can ninja invade other shinobis’ dreams and such? I mean, is there some sort of jutsu that allows them to do that?” Sasuke sat there a moment, recalling his own dream with Itachi before answering, “I don’t think so. Normally dreams are just your conscious telling you something. Like if you had a dream about Tsunade telling you not to do something. It’s not really Tsunade; it’s your mind warning you.” Naruto walked on with a slow pace and sighed. “Thanks, Sasuke.” he responded. Giving Naruto a one-armed hug, Sasuke replied, “Anything for you.” With that, the blond froze. “What did you say?” “‘Anything for you.’?” Sasuke repeated. For the first time, Naruto felt sickened with hearing that phrase. Never before had Sasuke ever said it, so it was something that Naruto had loved about Itachi. Now it appeared tainted by the ex-lover’s lips; as if though Sasuke had just placed poison in the most amazing sweet ever. “Please don’t say that ever again.” Naruto pleaded, grabbing Sasuke’s arm roughly. Confused, Sasuke nodded and gave the blond a nonchalant hug. He went in to kiss him quickly on the lips when Naruto turned his head, forcing the raven-haired teen to kiss his cheek. Sasuke scowled as Naruto walked on. There was only so much drama the Uchiha could take, but he knew he would have to live through it in order for Naruto to be his again. “You’ve lost Naruto… to me.” rang through his mind again, and Sasuke spun Naruto on his heels. The Uchiha teen was scared now. Searching Naruto’s cerulean eyes, Sasuke searched for the love that he had always detected there. There was none. “Naruto, when you were with Itachi, what happened?” Sasuke interrogated. The blond winced and looked at the ground, making the Uchiha wish he had never asked such a thing. It was cruel of him; Naruto was his lover and always would be. He would never lose his dobe to Itachi… never. “Please, Sasuke, don’t ask me that.” Naruto whispered, his eyes watering over. How he missed the elder Uchiha! Luckily for him, Sasuke misinterpreted it as though Itachi had been cruel to the boy, and nodded before giving the shorter one another hug. “I am sorry I asked, Naruto.” he whispered in the blond’s ear. The blond nodded, pretending that everything was okay. He walked with Sasuke, allowing the other boy to hold his hand while they walked, although it took every inch of his wits not to rip his hand from Sasuke’s. “Hey, how about for a celebration we eat some ramen?” Sasuke suggested naïvely. Paling, the blond gave a fake enthusiastic nod before allowing Sasuke to pull him off. ‘Itachi… please hurry!’
