Personality: when he was younger he was carefree and cheerful, bordering to naïve at times. though he hasn't smiled since he ended up in prison. He's been forced to harden his exterior and is wearing a mask that now goes deeper than he ever thought possible. he's cold and shows little emotion. and he carries a deep, passionate hate for his family.
Background: Being born into the royal family Takahiro is the youngest son of the current king and queen. he has two older brothers and an older sister. From birth he got betrothed to a young princess from a large family in another kingdom. As Takahiro is closer to the throne than she is, they will get married once his older siblings has had their wedding.
growing up Takahiro had a very typical royal upbringing with private tutors, little to any contact with commoners at all, balls and massive admiration from maids and butlers. he loved it and he loved playing with his siblings even though he hardly ever saw his parents.
but coming from a country where magic is real, and equals a death sentence, he got scared when he was seven and realized that he was magical himself. as he discovered it when he was alone he never let anyone but the dog know about it. and he managed to keep it from everyone for many years, pretending it didn't exist.
as he grew up he got curious about the town and the towns people. But being a prince far away from the throne he wasn't allowed to meet them. so he used to dress as a commoner from time to time and sneak out, just to mingle and to be like anyone else. He usually had his dog with him as well for protection, but sometimes he went alone. And it was on one of these solotrips that things went wrong.
He was out walking on the streets on his own in the middle of the day as his parents were away in another kingdom and no one was looking after him at the moment. he smiled and enjoyed himself as he usually did as he loved being out like this. But then someone called his name. Someone had recognized him even though he was disguised. He got scared and ran as no one was supposed to know it was him. But he attracted attention as he ran and somehow someone had figured out who he was and what a good thing it was that he could be caught. so they lured him into an alley to hide him and then instead hit his head so he passed out. Once Takahiro woke up he was tied and he could hear his capturers talk about what they would do to him. then they realized that he was awake and turned to him. Takahiro doesn't remember what happened, but he used his magic to get free and to immobilize the men. Though unfortunately whichhunters were close and discovered his magic. he was captured and brought to jail. there he begged them to let him see his family as they could vouch for him. A while later his personal butler showed up and said that his father had disowned him and that he was to never use his connections to the castle ever again as he was no longer a part of that. Takahiro couldn't believe what he heard and tried to protest. but the butler left and he was alone.
and he's been in jail ever since, waiting for his trial. It's been five years now and there's little left of the boy he once was. his time in jail has been hard. the magic repressing collars are tearing on the inmates and violence is a daily occurrence. Takahiro himself stayed away from the violent ones until he was forced to do something to earn a place there. And it might not be much, but with his born authority he's in the top of one of the gangs that's in charge among the prisoners.
