A group of bank robbers find their multi-million dollar plan interrupted by a hard-boiled detective.
A seasoned team of bank robbers, including Gordon Jennings (Idris Elba), John Rahway (Paul Walker), A.J. (Hayden Christensen), and brothers Jake (Michael Ealy) and Jesse (Chris Brown) Attica successfully complete their latest heist and lead a life of luxury while planning their next job. When Ghost (Tip T.I. Harris), a former member of their team, is released from prison he convinces the group to strike an armored car carrying $20 million. As the "takers" carefully plot their strategy and draw nearer to exacting the grand heist, a reckless police officer (Matt Dillon) inches closer to apprehending the criminals.
Gordon Cozier (Idris Elba), John Rahway (Paul Walker), A.J. (Hayden Christensen), and brothers Jake (Michael Ealy) and Jesse Attica (Chris Brown) are a well-organized group who pulls off a precision bank robbery. Tough cop Jack Welles (Matt Dillon) and his partner Eddie Hatcher (Jay Hernandez) investigates. Jake proposes to girlfriend Lilly (Zoe Saldana). Crew member Ghost (T.I.) gets out early from prison with plans for a new job.
The movie starts with a well-filmed heist sequence but the movie meanders after that. The investigation isn't that compelling. The criminal gang is a lot of cool posing without any intensity. There are some good actors here as well as some rappers trying to be gangsters. Director John Luessenhop does his job trying to mimic Michael Mann's Heat. He doesn't have the same acting firepower available to him and the film doesn't have the same intensity. The characters talk too much and tries to be hard too much. It feels like a weaker copy of better movies.

Rapper, producer, and mogul Tip "T.I." Harris was recently named "global creative consultant" for Rémy Martin cognac. Coincidentally or not, he's also the star and producer of Takers, a heist thriller that feels suspiciously like a feature-length commercial for expensive liquor.
