'The Watch' has been poorly reviewed and everyone seems to be disappointed with it, but I wasn't. I enjoyed it. 'The Watch' WAS actually funny, it made me laugh then the majority of modern comedies, which are usually poor. The cast is brilliant. 'The Watch' has four strong lead actors, Jonah Hill & Richard Ayoade being the strongest, Ben Stiller being the weakest and Vince Vaughn is better then usual. The narrative and premise is fun and the aliens actually look good (from a design perspective). Overall 'The Watch' is a fun, crude, rude comedy that's better than the majority, but overall to most people it's either a hit or a miss, I'd definitely recommend it, at least give it a try. I literally just watched this film with the impression that it was going to be a "mediocre comedy with bad acting and a predictable storyline". I believe it was the complete opposite. Maybe it's because I didn't have the expectations that everyone else had, but I honestly was laughing out loud the whole way through this film, it's hilarious! The humour just bounces off of all the characters perfectly (especially the 4 main guys), and it's consistent throughout! Not a dull moment! The story is somewhat predictable once the story begins to open up, but that doesn't override the excitement and enticement this film brings one bit. I believe people took the film to seriously due to the great cast lined up and the fact that Ted was released the same time completely dominating this film, which is a shame because it really did deserve to do better. I'm not saying it's a five star golden globe nominee film but it sure as hell made me laugh and I would jump at the chance to watch it again! LOVE IT! It's so determined to be crude, vulgar and offensive that after a while I grew weary. Abbott and Costello used to knock out funnier movies on this exact intellectual plane without using a single F, S, C, P or A word.
