In ancient Japan, the shape shifting wizard known as Aku resurfaces and attacks the nation. When the emperor is captured, his son is sent to train throughout the world in many forms of discipline and combat. As an adult, he reunites with his mother, who gives him the sacred sword capable of defeating Aku. When the samurai returns home to face the wizard, he is sent through time into the distant future, where Aku still rules over a world filled with high technology, aliens, and other oddities that the samurai doesn't understand. Taking on the name Jack, the samurai makes a name for himself as he struggles to free the future from Aku's grasp, and one day return to his own time to stop Aku before this future comes to pass.

I was wary, but I must admit the hour-plus movie version did win me over with its art and voice work. I enjoyed the training & fighting In-Ancient-Times sequences more than mostof the future scenes. (Flying cars & dog drool; been there, seen that.) And while the final battle against the drones was pretty cool, it ran on a tad and nearly ran into the ground with the gratuitous Slow-Motion oil-squirting bit. All in all: a very good start, but the creators need to reach less for a long, all-encompassing epic and more on tightening the pace. Hey, how many split-screens can you have?
I've been watching Samurai Jack as soon as it appeared (for more than seven years now). And I must proudly say, that not a lot of cartoon series have surpassed this Genndy Tartakovsky's masterpiece. This cartoon has everything!
First of all, the tone of the cartoon if just right. The-samurai-on-a-mission-type feeling blends perfectly with the futuristic surroundings. Much props to cartoonist and the composer.
But the thing that stands out the most is definitely the creativity. Every episode has something new to show. The plot devises are often outstanding!
Every time Samurai Jack appears on TV, I'm always up for it!
Jack's real, birth name is never revealed. In the second Pilot episode he decides to name himself with this alternate name after a group of young men got impressed by his actions. No, though the appearance of Samurai Jack himself is believably based on the Professors design from PPG. But they don't share anything related or common things in any ways.The series is left open to interpretation. However, in the series, Jack finds a stable portal through time before he is defeated by the guardian. It is implied that Jack will return to the past one day as the portal shows his older, bearded self wearing a crown. The guardian states that it is not yet time for him to use the portal.
On December, 2, 2015, Adult Swim announced that the show would be airing a new season on its Toonami programming block in March 11, 2017. The series is once again being produced at Cartoon Network Studios with Tartakovsky as executive producer. This new season shows the continuous journey of Jack taking place 50 years since the last episode of Season 4 in a ten episode event. a5c7b9f00b
