The fantastic factor about volunteering at a soup kitchen or even a food pantry may be the proximity to those you might be assisting. My Mom Marie Bilodeau, who ran the food pantry at our church, returned house each and every week with personal stories concerning the persons she helped. Her experiences usually reminded me about a book I study in college referred to as Irresistible Revolution by Shane Claiborne. The book had a profound impact on my view on the notion of philanthropy since it referred to as to process any technique of charity that necessarily insulates the gift-give from the receiver.
