7 Aug 2017 The best mountain bike brakes, according to Singletracks readers, are Shimano's XT brakes. Shimano is an absolute giant in the brake market, and despite SRAM's latest Guide brakes initially receiving rave reviews, recent quality control and warranty issues haven't been helping them recover from the
I need a new set of brakes! Right now I'm looking at SRAM's Guide R or RS models and Shimano XT. Going purely off the reviews I have read, It
10 Jun 2016 The Shimano brake lineup itself has its similarities to SRAM in that they offer a number of different price points for the brake line-up. The Shimano Deore and SLX are their lower level and less expensive 2-piston brakes. Then you have the XT and XTR levels that are the more expensive, higher level brakes.
6 Dec 2015 I'm buying a bike that comes with the Guide R brakes, but I have the option of switching them out if I wish. 24 Jun 2016 Performance is still unquestioned but our testing revealed unexpected reliability issues with the XT M8000's that were observed in the Shimano XTR M9020 brake too, pointing a finger at the new piston design. The SRAM Guide RS too was a well liked brake, well deserved of its booming OEM popularity.
The guide or xt seems ideal for that type of riding. Never been a fan of formula It comes down to if you like a softer, easier to modulate lever feel or more raw initial braking power. My time on an xtr brake set was pleasant for sure but to much bite at the point where pad grabs the rotor. Although avids/sram
4 days ago What's the thoughts chaps? I'm expecting a fair amount of avid bashing, but I've heard that new guides are much better. I've got about 150 max to spend, so hopes are out. Posted 3 years ago. adrec. Member. The nicest brakes I've got on any of my bikes are the juicy 3s on my old rockhopper. Granted they've not had the
18 Feb 2016 SRAM is working hard to shrug off a somewhat shaky reputation by producing some really good brakes. Meanwhile Shimano is worshiped for their brakes and continues to refine their already successful products. As we've spent quite a bit of time on the latest Shimano M8000 brakes as well as the new
