In the future, after the human civilization ended by war and pollution, only those few people who had the power and technology escaped the disaster. Those people built the last human city of Ecoban. As its energy source is the pollutant, the people of Ecoban plan to destroy the inhabitants of Marr to get more pollutant. Standing against Ecoban is a young man who wants only to clear the skies of the clouds to show the wonderful heavens to the girl he loves.
Civilization has been destroyed by war and pollution, but the survivors have built the last city of Ecoban. As most natural resources have been exhausted, Ecoban is powered by pollution. The citizens of Ecoban need to continue creating this pollution leading them into conflict with the inhabitants of Marr while one man just wants to clear away the clouds and see the sky
Excellent 3D CGI graphics with 2D character animations. And it works. Story is OK and characters are lifelike, but that's about it. The creators used too much stereotypical background story between main characters and the lead woman character becomes too typical weak female, which was rather disappointing. Jay's character could have been better but instead they resorted to go the easy way. This is too typical of Korean movies..
Also, in some points I would have liked to see more of the 2D animation and character interaction when the director seemed to prefer showing off with the 3D animation.
Anyway, worth the watching.
Under its original title of Wonderful Days, this had a beguiling trailer widely seen at Ain't It Cool News and such places. Released dubbed as Sky Blue, it proves to be a borderline amateurish mish-mosh of the usual anime elements. In a world constructed out of equal parts of Fritz Lang's Metropolis and Miyazaki's Nausicaa, a Tom Cruise lookalike plans to blow up the power source for the big city and free the worker people, man. (This young terrorist is our hero, despite the fact that he plans to kill thousands.) Meanwhile, some baddies straight out of He-Man (in both subtlety of characterization and quality of draughtmanship) sit around, talk in councils, and threaten violence. It's a story that neither makes much sense (we hear about incredibly toxic rain at the beginning, then nobody seems to mind going out in it) nor is especially interesting, especially since the only thing that lets you tell the characters apart from each other is their hair color.
There is some impressive use of 3-D graphics here and there but the 2-D work that is integrated with it is quite crude. You get the sense that a first-rate computer game company supplied some work and no one else involved was of a comparable skill level; not surprisingly, you get to see the main 3-D "set" (a roadway leading into the city) many times before the movie is over.
Most of the action is tedious, and the less you pay attention to the dialogue, the less you'll feel your hand inadvertently twitching as if with joystick.
The Director's Cut is about 500 seconds longer. The new Director's Cut was almost completely re-dubbed, patrially they hired new voice actors. This effort was necessary to correct some flaws in the story, giving the movie a more fluent plot in many scenes. 646f9e108c
