Eventually she finds Morelli again, but he claims he is innocent of the crime he is accused of and he is trying to prove his innocence. Eventually Stephanie thinks he's telling the truth so she stakes out the person who can help him. She only finds herself in trouble and Morelli saves her. She tries to find someone who can prove his innocence, but the problem is that shortly after meeting with them they're killed or attacked. I liked it! Just saw it today. It's not a 10 but it's at least a 5 or 6. About as good as a good NCIS. I liked Stephanie, Lula and Connie, kinda liked Morelli (too much Mel Gibson scary), liked Ranger (but he should be steamier) and Grandma was fun but didn't fit my image from the books. The chase scenes were fun. The neighborhood shots of the "The Burg" were fun to see, looks like I imagined it would. Mom and Dad were also much as I imagined they would be. Vinnie wasn't quite sleazy enough. Ramirez was pretty much what I expected. The movie seemed to be follow the book or what I remember of it since I've read all of her books, I think through number 17. It was an entertaining movie and I hope there are more to come or at least a TV series. The cast was the worst part of the movie. Katherine Heigl looks too old and not really Jersey girl. And Joe Morelli is supposed to be a Italian hunk of a cop. But this Morelli is Irish and looks Irish with light eyes and curly light brown hair. Even taking his shirt off did not help make him any more of a hunk. Too bad but he is not right for the part. I guess we are all out of good looking Italian guys who could have played this part in Hollywood. Ranger was a little better as he did look a little dark and mysterious but not the long haired, man of the streets that the book claimed he was. And I won't even get into Debbie Reyonlds as Grandma Mazur. She does not look like a Jersey native at all. But she could be OK if they let her do the part like the book has her and let her go with it. The only bright spot I saw was Sherri Sheppard as Lula. She was good as the character. I just hope they bring in more of her in any more movies. Lula makes the books funny and the movie really needs her to cover up for the bad male casting. The movie was funny at times and should be seen but I really hope they take a look at the books again and do much better next time. They spent too much time on useless scenes when they could have cut that time and added more narrative from Stephanie to convey the whole thing. Case in point was the shower scene when she called Ranger. They did not need to cut to Ranger for that. The whole thing could have been done with her talking on the phone. It would have been better to have given the time to after Ranger showed up to get her loose. That would have helped to show that they were getting attracted t

During a dinner with Stephanie's colorfully ethnic family, including a squandered Debbie Reynolds, the reaction shots arrive with bludgeoning regularity, and the soundtrack's burbling organ serves as an incessant reminder not to take anything seriously. Fortunately, there's no danger of that.
