Deemed insane for claiming that the failed rescue mission in the Philippine waters was doomed because of a seemingly-extinct predator of epic proportions--the prehistoric, Megalodon--Jonas Taylor, the world's greatest deep-sea rescue diver, finds himself in the vast ocean realm of Mariana Trench, five years later. Five years ago, expert sea diver and Naval Captain Jonas Taylor encountered an unknown danger in the unexplored recesses of the Mariana Trench that forced him to abort his mission and abandon half his crew. Though the tragic incident earned him a dishonorable discharge, what ultimately cost him his career, his marriage and any semblance of honor was his unsupported and incredulous claims of what caused it - an attack on his vessel by a mammoth, 70-foot sea creature, believed to be extinct for more than a million years. But when a submersible lies sunk and disabled at the bottom of the ocean - carrying his ex-wife among the team onboard - he is the one who gets the call. Whether a shot at redemption or a suicide mission, Jonas must confront his fears and risk his own life and the lives of everyone trapped below on a single question: Could the Carcharodon Megalodon - the largest marine predator that ever existed - still be alive ... and on the hunt?
If You like bad plots and raw acting, please go and see it. There's nothing more to expect than trash and fun in here.
Is a sure mix between Jaws and Deep Blue Sea with a chinese american touch.
Jason Statham is the new Thomas Jane with way more bad boy charisma.
I liked it because I knew the risks evolved in watch this awesome piece of crap.
I feel the producers made this movie to see if they could beat Jaws at size and scares, and I have to admit they did a good job on that.
The story is about a research team, as they have the technology to go deeper into the ocean and study life there, as they do so the team runs into an prehistoric shark called Megolodon a creature thought to have been extinct 2.8 million years ago. Things go wrong, and all hell breaks loose, but one man is determined to stop and kill the beast.
The Meg is a fun movie and I liked the fact they brought in a prehistoric beast into the picture, think Jaws, but three times as big. The fact that this was an actual creature that lived millions of years ago makes it even more believable and fun. The stars of the show are Jason Stratum who plays the main character and the hero. I didn't recognize any other character, except the one dude who is from "The Office" who plays the millionaire funding the whole research program.
All in all The Meg was very entertaining except the reason I give it an 8 is because I felt the deaths in the story were to quick and and some parts were predictable, I also think Jason was trying to hard to be the hero, I mean he acted like more of a super hero then just a regular man, and I found it cool but I felt he overdid it on the heroic part. The film had lots of good scares and was fun, it's a good movie to take a date too or a friend.
8/10 for The Meg
Statham remains an appealing summer movie fixture, but sharks deserve better than this.
