Book descriptionRated whole 4 novellas 4 stars - as its quite hard to rate them separably because on their own they arent exactly a complete tale. A story for fans of forgotten realms setting, and especially those who have read Neverwinter saga quarter by R.A Salvatore starring best known dark elf in all the realms - Drizzt DoUrden - so they might know how and what had happened to the crown of the North - Neverwinter City; or/and also for those who read Erin M. Evans series Brimstone Angels - events took the place around the same time in those series and here, or even better - have played Neverwinter MMO - youll feel right at home with those additional materials. Its not compulsory to have experienced all of them, but would be advisable - meaning - these novellas will not hold any meaning to those unfamiliar with world of Forgotten Realms, and the Neverwinter city. Does it have any meaning as a literal work? well - yes - it was definitely exciting following steps of the spy - Rucus Sarfael - doing his job - spying for the sake of his master/employer, developing ties with the ones who he was hired to spy on and in the end turning out into what it all ..turned out to be. It was an exiting read as at times it made me guessing what the outcome would be - bad, really bad or maybe even good? Who will be the traitor of the traitors and will they claim the crown?After reading this teaser of a novella I would have really liked to find a full length novel starring this lad, Rucus, and his newly found partners and his success on the job he took at the end of the novella. Author really knows how to make a page-turner - I wonder if the same would be true for a full fledged work as its length was used to its fullest benefit to build up tension and really high pacing of the tale.The only gripe with this format was that - I was really into the idea of selling the first part for 0.99$, but I think it was kind of pointless to have 3 more for the same price per piece, instead of just trice the size and price of the first for a bulk. Because after the first part it is definitely clear if you like or dont the style and the whole story - and you are free to chose either to continue or not. Because those cliffhangers at the end of each of first 3 novellas were like the ones you get in your default tv shows when they beg you to see them next week, and your tv goes out the windows in an act of frustration initiated by this so called cliffhanger. Bad approach. Otherwise - it was really good, fast and fun reading for ones like me - who like to play DnD and also are fans of Forgotten Realms and need something to sate their hunger while some proper novel of the same universe is on its way.
