Traffic Calming. Introduction. Traffic. Management and Calming. - Context. The main objective of traffic management is to manage the road environment and the road users within that environment. The aim is to produce a road network that is driven calmly, smoothly and safely by drivers and at speeds that are appropriate.
June 2011. By request from the Town of Truro, the Cape Cod Commission has prepared this summary of Traffic Calming Techniques. Traffic Calming is the combination of policies and measures that reduce the negative effects of motor vehicle use, alter driver behavior, and improve conditions for non-motorized street users.
Traffic Calming Measures. Too much speed and too many vehicles are common complaints in many urban communi- ties. To address these public concerns, many jurisdictions are tempted to adopt apparently easy solutions, such as lowering speed limits and/or installing Stop signs. However, without consistent and
