the dialog box gives the possibility to change or remove the authors. However So, is there a robust way to remove ALL the metadata from a PDF file *** indepently on how it was generated *** ? Thanks for Let's say my PDF file is saved on my Desktop (and I'm still now under MAC OS X Version 10.6.8).
I'm submitting what is supposed to be an anonymous review for a paper. I wrote up the review in a text file and generated a PDF from it (using Print » PDF » Save as PDF) only to find out that the author info was emdedded in the PDF metadata. I thought there would be a free tool to modify PDF metadata in
Regarding the second answer, this does not necessarily work if the .pdf was created using a different application, even if it is modified in Preview. Always use the Inspector in Preview to make sure the Author metadata is anonymized, and if not, change it as the first answer suggests using a text editor
Is it possible to remove the metadata created when exporting to PDF? I've changed both the document info in the inspector, and the author name in preferences, but when I export a PDF and then "get info" in finder, it still has my name under "more info". Jul 17, 2015 A quick test on my Mac revealed that *some* meta data is carried over, e.g. subject and author. Possibly other stuff too if you'd populated it in Word. These seem to be successfully removed from the PDF using exiftool like so: Code: exiftool -All= /path/to/your/file/goes/here.pdf. Annoyingly, exiftool will read,
File-->Export as PDF. Then, right click the "Properties" of the PDF file. In the second tab "PDF Information". It shows the author. How to remove this personal information? I do not want my name to be shown in PDF Document Information. Last edited by akyahoo on Thu Jan 15, 2009 8:59 am, edited 1
Nov 6, 2017 One of the keys for edit PDF metadata on Mac or remove metadata from PDF on Mac is to have the right software. What can you do with PDFelement The description part includes the name of the file, title, author, subject, keywords, when it was created, and when it was modified. This is how you view PDF
To check for and remove personal information from Adobe PDF files from Acrobat versions DC and above: Open the PDF document. Choose "Tools" and then select "Redact". Choose “Remove Hidden Information" and wait for the tool to finish running. If any items appear in the Results, click “Remove". Save the file.
If you have Acrobat reader, you can open the Document properties and delete the Author field. Go to File> Properties >Description. There you have the Author field.
