Shadow, the quiet, mysterious rogue of a hedgehog, goes on an adventure to discover his cloudy past and find out who - or what - he really is, all the while caught up in a three sided war between the GUN army, Dr. Eggman, and a strange race of alien-like creatures. Shadow is determined to get to the bottom of this entire matter and will stop at nothing to get the information he wants, even going so far as to pack some serious heat....
Suffering from Amnesia, Shadow the hedgehog goes to extreme measures to discover the truth about his cloudy past and find out who - or what - he really is, all the while caught up in a three sided war between the GUN army, Dr. Eggman, and a strange race of alien invaders.
I'm not just saying that either. This game does so much wrong in so many areas that not only does it fail as a Sonic game, but it fails as a game in general.
Pros
+Interesting idea for branching areas/paths in the story
+The FMV cutscenes look amazing
+Some of the music is alright
+Still feels like a complete game unlike '06 or Boom
+Some laughter can be had when you're not being frustrated at everything in the game
Cons
-Mediocre to bad voice acting
-Bad graphics and horrible lighting
-Bad story filled with plot holes
-Bad controls
-Badly implemented mission goals (especially the "find/destroy X number of things" missions). There's also weird consistency issues with who's "good" or "bad" in a level, especially levels with Eggman. Everyone will attack you either way.
-Low emphasis on speed in most missions to the point where going fast will hinder you
-Bad level design
-The cursing, gun violence, and vehicles feel shoehorned into the game at best
-Bosses are poorly done (the Eggman boss relies almost entirely on luck, for example)
-None of the endings really matter since there's a *True Ending* that makes any other endings completely null, turning them into "What Ifs" at best
Recommended to: 13-16 year olds who need some angsty video games with cheesy stories; Extreme Sonic fans I guess?
I really am amazed this has as much praise as it does, but that's just me I guess.
Ironically I think this game had a lot of work put into it in regards with being 3-D . Jareel White did a good job voicing him as a rough guy including Sonic. I'd say learning lines from two characters ain't easy!
I'm glad we finally found out Shadow was created by Eggman's grandfather Professor Gerald Robotnik. I actually forgot Shadow did forget who he was but somehow I knew he would be involved with Eggman since I was playing the game 'Sonic Heroes' years ago!
What I didn't like about this video game was Shadow kept saying the same things over and over again for example: "Finally I got all the 7 emeralds", "I am Shadow the Hedgehog and this is who I am!" or his evil laugh. I was just fed up listening to the same stuff he comes out with whenever he achieves a mission, c'mon like he should've said more then that! I also thought Rouges voice was really odd as she sounded like she had too many cigarettes! Can't they have gotten somebody better??
If you're a hardcore sonic fan like myself, check this out!
