6 May 2011 I got finished my 1st big job of studs and etc done, now I am ready for my next job (auto to manual swap). Ford will be doing the work luck finding one. I have a 1978 F-150 with a 351M and a C6, part-time 4WD, long-bed. I really don't like auto transmissions and would like to swap in a manual. Unfortunately, I couldn't find out what the stock transmission options were for that year. I'd like to keep as much of my drivetrain as I can (transfer case, driveshafts).

29 May 2014 It is recommended that a F-250 or heavier duty chassis be selected for 6-cylinder conversions, as the F-150 chassis is really too light duty to handle the power and weight of The 5R110 is not considered a "conversion friendly" transmission due to the limitations of aftermarket transmission control modules.
