hey all, considering buying a late model cressida, but i know they all come in auto. i know its common to swap the 7mge to the 1jz, therefore changing the gearbox, but is it possible to line up a gearbox with the 7mge?? i really would like another manual car, as auto just doesnt do it for me. also what gearbox

Just pull apart the gauge cluster and remove the ABS (if you have it) and transmission lights. you'll have to jerry rig the neutral start switch for both starting and cruise control. LHD conversion is actually pretty easy. it's been covered several times more recently than this thread
6 Jun 2002 How much would it cost and how hard would it be to convert a 89-93 Toyota Cressida to manual using the trans out of a 7M GE or 7M GTE supra? I would like to use the R154 out of the turbo because eventualy it would be nice to put a 7M GTE or 1JZ into it. I have not got the car yet and are just concidering
for the trans try to get the mk3 r154 rearmost shifter housing just so it can save you from destroying your cd player. the w58 from the mk2 celicasupra will cause the shifter to be a lot closer to the front. also you'll have to cut alittle where you shifter sits if use the w58. toyotacressida.net would be help also.
