AND.. wanna say that...what a disappointment to see a 6.7/10 rating on IMDb for this CRAP! So i often come here, read comments and watch the movie's ratings....lots of people do this to save their precious time.. BUT, if this piece of s**t can get a 6,7 score out from 5000 voters then something is wrong wrong wrong....IMDb! Consider putting a basic I.Q. test before allowing people to vote! So, don't waste your time on this one, don't trust IMDb rankings as i did and go rent a decent movie tonight!This film does a very good job of blending a medieval film with a SciFi back-theme. I believe the term is called speculative fiction. What if a technologically advanced humanoid race crash-landed on earth during the time of the Vikings? This film contains a few cliché moments but in the end it worked for me. There was an interesting theme (revealed towards the middle of the film) that paralleled the fantasy world with SciFi world. Bottom line, I wasn't expecting much and I was pleasantly surprised. When the credits rolled, I was also surprised to see some names (Jim Caviezel, John hurt, Ron Pearlman) I recognized along with some other I had not heard of that performed well.The nuttiest hunk of junk in many months.Outlander was first conceived by director Howard McCain as similar, but not based on, the classic Old English epic poem Beowulf but with Viking overtones. When McCain later joined with Hollywood screenwriter Dirk Blackman to produce the screenplay, Blackman added science fiction elements to the story by changing the main characters into aliens. In an interview with Sci Fi Wire, principal actor Jim Caviezel described Outlander as "kind of like Braveheart (1995) (1995) and Highlander (1986) (1986) combined." The movie states that the story takes place in 709 A.D. Norway, although it actually was shot around Nova Scotia, Newfoundland, and Laborador in Canada. The language he speaks at the start is Old Norse, the precurser from which modern Scandinavian languages such as Danish, Icelandic, Norwegian, and Swedish originated. The actors were coached in Old Norse/Icelandic by an Icelandic professor. Yes.
