the name of the band is vision talk from sweden and their first record is called – “Dirty Italo Disco”.
at first vision talk is a side-project of chinese theatre. chinese theatre is one of the current generation of synthpop bands like people theatre, foretaste, celluloide, emmon, nun (nuniq), disko digitale, hype, SMPJ, mr. jones machine or elegant machinery, universal Poplab, marsheaux, thermostatic and eventually alice in videoland and kite and some more.
back to “Dirty Italo Disco” the name of the CD is program they celebrate all these old skool electropop italodisco sounds from the 80ies, but they don’t sound like laserdance, fancy or gazebo or savage, risque.
No they create their own more synthpop oriented style. The positive by Vision Talk are the vocals they are not perfect, but they try to break out from the normal monoton style, you find a change in some moments in the voice for a good way,
but I think in the future they can do it more professional.
some tracks remember me to rational youth, psyche or alphaville and in some parts they sound like disko digitale. my faves are “Dina Tankar”, “I Wish”, “Lost In A Haze”, “Start Again”. “Paradise for Free” sounds like a hybrid of old S.P.O.C.K. and the first record of thermostatic.
“Dina Tankar” remembered me to adolphson & falk “Blinkar Bla” with more BPM. “Lacerta” is one of these songs with an very old-skool pop style – new romantic synthpop from the past, nice track. “The Journey” and “Out Of This life” are Italo Disco in perfection – great sounds and good Vocals.
“Universal Caphale” my favourite track at “Dirty Italo Disco” – with an wonderful end 70ies melody and synth-sequence. vision talks end with “You Got Me Moving” a good track again with a 70ies Disco-Bassline, but the vocals are really 80ies – and the textlines – offers you to move your body.
all in all Vision Talk have recorded a nice record with many 70/80ies sounds and vocals – and for their first record its very good. It’s a record with a melancholic touch and
I think it’s made directly for electropop / synthpop fans and for all listeners of the bands which I had called in the first lines. do u like synthpop, you must get this record. For all people in Germany you can order your CD by Poponaut for only 9,99 € - I think it’s a good offer.
