It had a horror twist at the end that I didnt particularly enjoyit smacked of gimmickbut was well-told and interesting world-buildingThere's an alien invasion story that brings the human characters face to face with aliens who have nothing to do with the invasion, and sticks them with hard choicesFor Jack Kerr, Annie Bellet, and Tananarive Due, I think I liked earlier stories better,"Wedding Day," "Good Night Moon," and "Herd Immunity" respectivelyHowever, I am glad I finally didnigricans infection was my favorite), and for that, I am happy I got to read thisIn science fiction, the end is triggered by less figurative means: nuclear holocaust, biological warfare/pandemic, ecological disaster, or cosmological cataclysm
