After being mocked at in school, and having been unsuccessful to get employment with the local police services, he gets hired at a Mall as a security guard. He is attracted to a mall employee, Amy, but his attempts to woo her are foiled by a pen salesman. His continuing efforts to date Amy are hilarious as he must first adapt himself to cell phones and text messaging, which he attempts to do with his pal, Vijay's daughter's cell-phone. Things get complicated after he is instructed to train a new security guard - who has an agenda of his own - that will end up changing Paul's life forever.When a shopping mall is taken over by a gang of organized crooks, it's up to a mild-mannered security guard to save the day.It is not a good comedy or a good movie for adults. I thought it was pretty stupid at first and it is. But after some minutes i thought "what the heck i miss this type of movies", its an 90s style family comedy. And if you just don't take it seriously at all, its OK entertainment.
The story is nothing new. Its the classic thing about an outcast that has been bullied all his life, will he become the hero and get the girl???? hmmmmmmm.
The jokes is nothing new and very often is about fat stuff jokes etc, classic style. And the lines i general are nothing new. And its a late 90s acting style with stupid villains.
Kids will laugh and most grown ups will kinda watch it without throwing up or being mad. And maby laugh sometimes. Its a feel good movie.
Recommended if you are tired of watching disneychannel stuff with your kids. Or if you want light entertainment.When a shopping mall is taken over by a gang of organized crooks, it is up to a mild-mannered security guard (Kevin James) to save the day.
Kevin James is a funny guy, and I like his Paul Blart character. I like how he moves, how he acts, how he uses his body not just for fat jokes (and there are many) but as a bombastic prop. He flies over fences, breaks through glass, and allegedly James did all his own stunts.
Some jokes were good, some average, but the main issue I had was the creepy age difference between Blart and his crush. She's roughly thirty, while he is in his mid-fifties. That may work for George Clooney, but it defies believability to think a middle-aged, overweight security guard has a chance with a reasonable attractive young woman. And it is a little bit gross.The only real difference between this and the handful of other Happy Madison flicks is that James (executive producer, co-writer, star) has made this Sandleresque movie family-friendly, with very little swearing, no nudity and all the edginess of a "King of Queens" rerun.Paul Blart: Mall Cop is based on a screenplay by Kevin James, who plays the title character, and by writer and voice actor Nick Bakay. ...on the ring tone for Paul's borrowed phone: My bubble Gum by Rasheeda
