28 Aug 2013 For a mac user Preview is just a better experience. I wish it worked easily on Chrome. I get warnings every time I download a PDF to be very careful, it's such a waste of time.

When you open a PDF in Chrome, you see the Adobe Acrobat prompt in the upper-right corner of the window. Click Open in Acrobat Reader. Open in Acrobat Reader from Chrome.

Occasionally, it's because the website developer decides they want this behaviour, e.g. common on file sharing sites. Other times, it's because it's a default option for whatever software they're using (e.g. forum or blogging software).
