A comic-caper, that tells the story of 3 morons trying to rob a bank who pick the worst day possible when everything that can go wrong, goes wrong and how they're inadvertently caught in the crossfire.
Introducing the worst Bank Chor EVER: Champak Chandrakant Chiplunkar, a simple Marathi manoos played by Riteish Deshmukh who picks the worst day possible to rob a bank. To make matters worse, he recruits 2 idiots from Delhi who've never even picked a pocket in their lives. Now top that off with the craziest bunch of hostages including a high-strung housewife, a hyper chef, a possibly undercover cop - and Baba Sehgal. How could it be worse, right? Wrong. Enter tough as nails supercop, CBI officer Amjad Khan played by Vivek Anand Oberoi, who shoots first and interrogates later. And a mad media circus outside led by fashion journo turned crime reporter Gayatri Ganguly aka Gaga played by Rhea Chakraborty. And you know the Bankchors are up for the worst day of their lives. Yet. The film promises to be a crazy roller-coaster ride with thrills, chills and certainly lots of spills.
'Bank Chor' is actually a pleasant surprise. I mean, its no masterpiece, but its definitely a decent film, that has a strong second-hour as a plus. Sure, its never compelling enough to be called great, but there is some potential here, that cannot be denied.
'Bank Chor' tells the story of 3 buffoons (Riteish Deshmukh, Vikram Thapa & Bhuvan Arora) who, while trying to rob a bank, pick the worst day possible when everything that can go wrong, goes wrong and how they're inadvertently caught in the crossfire.
'Bank Chor' has a slow first-hour & how the buffoons try to rob the bank hardly offer any laughs. Even the entry of the super-cop (Vivek Oberoi, in an okay performance) doesn't get you thrilled. But, wait for it...'Bank Chor' has a sharp twist towards the interval point & from there-on, the film shifts gears from being a crime-comedy to a thriller of sorts & it works. The second-hour is filled with surprises & the climatic twist is indeed cleverly written. In short, 'Bank Chor' has a weak first-hour, but an interesting second, that somewhat makes for it.
The Screenplay is erratic & how one wishes if the Writing as strong in the first-hour as its in the second. The Dialogue, however, range from funny to ordinary. Bumpy's Direction is fine. Cinematography & Editing are average. Art Design is good.
Performance-Wise: Riteish Deshmukh is excellent as the leader his bumbling group. The talented actor shines, even when the Writing doesn't support him. Vikram Thapa & Bhuvan Arora are appropriately goofy as the jokers from Delhi. Their banter with Ritiesh & the entire Mumbai versus Delhi angle, raises a few laughs. Rhea Chakraborty is cute. Sahil Vaid is effective in a meaty role. Upendra Limaye & Sandesh Kulkarni are excellent. Naveen Kaushik is first-rate. Baba Sehgal is funny.
On the whole, 'Bank Chor' isn't perfect, but absorbing in parts nonetheless.
First I was thinking why i should waste my money on this kind of movie??? Then one of my friend said lets go. I said OK lets waste my money on this hmmmp. I been to PVR only 10 people were there for Movie, i was like my money gone. Then movie starts. Main Points :-
> Movie is beautifully Crafted by director. > Acting by each and every character is brilliant. > Ritesh and Vivek acting was brilliant. > Not much comedy, but instead of less comedy movie is entertaining. > And the last part means last 20 mins of the movie is brilliant, which makes u fall in love with movie. Until end u will not come to know whats the movie about? I loved the movie because its unpredictable.
