30 Jun 2012 i am changing the clutch in my truck this weekend and I can not seem to disconnect the shifter from the tran. A friend of mine told me to just knock the roll pin out and bing. But the roll pin seems to be very solid. Is there a trick to removing these? Not sure what trans it is but it is huge and the shifter is right on

6 Feb 2006 I have a early 80's chevy 4x4 truck with the 4 speed trans that has the super low 1st gear (granny). Does anyone know how to remove the shifter from it? I see there is a roll pin that goes through there.is this what I have to remove? And when I do, where should I have the shifter, in gear or in neutral?
6 Apr 2012 Also, my build sheet says 3 speed manual transmission (this is an I6 base model truck) but it's definitely a 4 speed. The shift knob says L in the lower left of the standard H pattern, with reverse on the far right (past the H) and down. And even though it says L on the shift knob, it doesn't feel like a granny low
