A young martial artist is caught between respecting his pacifist father's wishes or stopping a group of disrespectful foreigners from stealing precious artifacts.
Returning home with his father after a shopping expedition, Wong Fei-Hong is unwittingly caught up in the battle between foreigners who wish to export ancient Chinese artifacts and loyalists who don't want the pieces to leave the country. Fei-Hong has learned a style of fighting called "Drunken Boxing", which makes him a dangerous person to cross. Unfortunately, his father is opposed to his engaging in any kind of fighting, let alone drunken boxing. Consequently, Fei-Hong not only has to fight against the foreigners, but he must overcome his father's antagonism as well.
This is no doubt STILL the best Jackie Chan's movies I have seen so far. I remembered watching it 10 years ago (was it?) and since then, have been waiting rather 'patiently' for the DVD to be released(well, have to admit that I did buy the VCD in the meantime). Finally I got my DVD (which is manufactured by Thakral). The video quality is not so good, but who cares! as you will get so engrossed with the wonderful fighting scenes that you will soon forget about the picture quality. This is a movie with great humour, great kung fu/fight choreography and a terrific cast! Anita Mui is one you will never forget once you finish the movie. It's a pity Lau Kar-Leung has to depart halfway into making the movie. He was magnificent in the fightings he had with Jackie. And the final scene with Ken Lo is mind-blowing. You have to see it to believe how good he is with his kicking.
Anyway, I think I am going to rent the Code 1 version and see how good (or bad?) was the so call 'remake'.

In my opinion Legend Of The Drunken Master and Supercop will always be Jackie Chan's greatest films.Legend Of The Drunken Master wont win any Oscars but its a good action/kung-fu film that fans of these sort of movies will love.Originally released in 1994 Legend Of The Drunken Master was re-released in 2000 in American theaters.I saw this film a while back but wow this film had the great Jackie Chan charm and some excellent fight scenes.If you like Jackie Chan films or martial-arts films add Legend Of The Drunken Master to your DVD collection.You wont regret it.

The film delivers some of the most spectacular and intricately choreographed martial arts fighting ever seen on film.
One has to differentiate between three versions. They only differ in the final scene. The International Version misses the whole finishing scene. In the US-Version this finishing scene is slightly longer, only the final shots have been cut. The only uncensored version can be found on the Chinese DVD. a5c7b9f00b
