10 Oct 2011 When it's finally covered, I take my canned air and blow off the excess dust. This is an important step. If the excess powder remains, and sealer is applied, it literally turns to mud. Weathering powders are simply finely ground pigments. These materials give the appearance of dirt, grime, rust, soot, etc. a more natural look. Since some of these products are made from real rust and other natural pigments there is no better way to add life into your models. You can put on as much or as little of the powder
The dust effect is very popular among us scale modellers. You can get very realistic results with this weathering effect, and make it look like your model just rolled out of the desert.
