Scott Pilgrim must defeat his new girlfriend's seven evil exes in order to win her heart.
Scott Pilgrim plays in a band which aspires to success. He dates Knives Chau, a high-school girl five years younger, and he hasn't recovered from being dumped by his former girlfriend, now a success with her own band. When Scott falls for Ramona Flowers, he has trouble breaking up with Knives and tries to romance Ramona. As if juggling two women wasn't enough, Ramona comes with baggage: seven ex-lovers, with each of whom Scott must do battle to the death in order to win Ramona.
Wow this was sooo cool and I think Scott is a hero to all people who have been called dweebs or dorks before. I mean he beats up all these tough ex-boyfriends with all these super-cool moves in order to win this girl, even though she doesn't really do anything or care about anything except coloring her hair... but that's how girls are I think.
And this was such a deep movie I mean look how he even learned such a great lesson at the end of the movie when he apologized for cheating on both of his girlfriends and he got 400 points right away and he even got a self-respect sword! It was so inspiring that I think I will visit the last girlfriend I had 10 years ago in high school and tell her I'm sorry I kissed her best friend from band camp.
Update: Well that didn't go so well. She flew up 50 feet into the air and did a back-flip and landed her knee in my groin, and my balls exploded into 100 coins. She flipped me the finger, collected the coins and shut the door in my face.
Oh well, at least I can always play some more Street Fighter and Nintendo.
This movie was atrocious. I can't believe a movie crafted for the senses of 8 year-olds is considered brilliant. It's just a tragic state of what people believe to be creative.
I watched the movie in my hotel room, because my friend who typically has good taste, recommended it to me. I could not be more disappointed. I told him about Citizen X. He tells me about Scott Pilgrim vs. The World. I knew it would be bad. But what's worse is that critics are clamoring about this movie like it's some sort of stellar film that I should break out over Memorial Day weekend, show my family, and be surprised if they don't like it.
Is this really a 7.7??? It's crud. It's fluff. It's not funny, the acting is terrible, and the special affects aren't even that good. Apparenty you can kill something if you play really bad guitar. This is true. You killed my soul.
As he did in "Shaun of the Dead" and "Hot Fuzz", Wright immerses his heroes in pop culture's detritus and diversions, but doesn't drown them in it. You don't have to be dazzled or tickled by the movie, or get every joke, to be touched by it, too.
Scott Pilgrim vs. the World is based on the graphic novel series Scott Pilgrim by Canadian cartoonist Bryan Lee O'Malley. Six Scott Pilgrim books were first published between 2004 and 2010. The movie's title comes from the second volume of the series but is an adaptation of all six volumes. It's called "I Heard Ramona Sing" by Frank Black. "Invaders Must Die" by The Prodigy

Kevin Drew and Brendan Canning are writing the music for rival bands Crash and the Boys. There is an article about the music here. The time span can be surmised by the number of changes in Ramona's hair colour, which she states that she changes "every week and a half". Scott meets Ramona during the last few days of her "pink hair" cycle, before she goes blue for most of the film. She then change's her hair green at the end. The "blue hair" cycle was the only full cycle shown, so the time span of the film is between one and a half to two weeks (three at the most). Another hint to the time span is how Ramona kept mentioning how her relationships also only lasted a week and a half. As such, it can be surmised that a week and a half passed when she breaks up with Scott and returns to Gideon (hence the green hair in her next scene) Based on the landmarks present within the film (Honest Ed's, Lee's Palace, Casa Loma), the film primarily takes place in and around the Annex neighborhood in the central part of the city. Honest Ed's is a popular department store in the area and is visible in the background of many shots. There really is a Pizza Pizza restaurant across the street (though the interiors are different than seen in the film). Lee's Palace is a popular live music venue and it is located about two and half blocks east of Honest Ed's. Casa Loma is an actual castle located about three kilometers (about two miles) north of both landmarks and can quickly accessed by either subway or bus. There really is a steep staircase that must be climbed to reach Casa Loma from the south. The Annex is also home to The Bloor Cinema, a repertory cinema where Edgar Wright hosted screenings during production of the film. The school used in the film is St. Michael's College School, located at Bathurst St. and St. Clair Avenue West. Sometimes, but rarely in the amount seen in the film.
