Description:
This is definitely the most unique tomato that I have seen! Some call it Blue some Purple and some say its black - you decide. The areas exposed to sunlight produce this dark purple/blue color. The bottom is green until fully ripe when it turns Purple. The inside is a reddish purple which looks just like the inside of a plum.
The news is really hitting the scientific community. A new healthy tomato is here and is about to storm the health food world. As you probably know, Oregon State University is currently perfecting the new purple crop and trying to determine its health benefits.
What you may not know is that these healthy snacks are NOT genetically altered. They are hybrids of wild species in South America. So you don't have to worry about that purple color coming from unnatural processes.
The purple colored tomato contains the same compounds (phytochemical) found in blueberries. This compound assists in reducing the risk of cancer and heart disease. The new purple tomato could hit grocery stores any time, but it is likely that Oregon locals will get the first pick.
Cherokee purple is known for large in size and great taste. Also for the interesting fact that it comes from the cherokee tribe and has great color and beauty.
This means you can save your seeds from mature fruit and use them the next year to plant your garden ... without having to buy new seed! This could be a great savings. Seeds are not hybrid, etc...
A legendary and beautiful tomato, said to have been grown by the Cherokee People. 12 oz. deep dark dusky rose-purple, deep red inside, with sweet, rich and smoky, luscious flavor. Cherokee Purple is a garden staple, in everyone's favorite list for a good reason, disease resistant, reliable and easy to grow, and great one for your heirloom or heritage garden.
THESE HEIRLOOM “CHEROKEE PURPLE" TOMATOES HAVE BEEN AROUND OVER 100 YEARS AND ARE SAID TO HAVE ORIGINATED FROM THE CHEROKEE INDIANS. THIS TOMATO IS EXTREMELY SWEET, UNIQUELY FLAVORED WITH AN EARTHY, SMOKY TASTE.
CONSIDERED ONE OF THE “BLACK" TOMATOES, IT'S SKIN RANGES FROM GREEN, TO DARK PURPLISH BLACK, WHILE THE FLESH IS MOSTLY BRICK RED COLORED. IT'S A THICK-SKINNED VARIETY, MAKING IT EASY TO STORE. VERY PROLIFIC, IT'S AN INDETERMINATE VARIETY, MEANING IT PRODUCES UNTIL FROST.

Fungerar jättebra med påminnelser i Fånen! Spännande med lila tomater, men där är nog jag alldeles för sent ute. Men det ska bli roligt att se vad det blir av dina frön.
