Ranvir and Rajiv are half brothers who own a huge stud farm in South Africa. Ranvir is a very shrewd and aggressive man while Rajiv is laid back, and a chronic alcoholic. Sophia, Ranvir's personal secretary adores and loves him. Ranvir is unaware of her feelings. Shaina, an Indian ramp model in Durban loves Ranvir but through a twist of fate gets married to his younger brother Rajiv. When she discovers that Rajiv is a chronic alcoholic, her world is shattered. Ranvir too is disturbed as he has sacrificed his love for his younger brother because Rajiv had promised to leave alcohol for good if he marries Shaina. In a weak moment Ranvir and Shaina come very close to each other. When Rajiv starts suspecting, all hell breaks loose. A murder is committed, a contract killing is issued. A sharp tongued detective R.D., getting wise on the proceedings, starts an intriguing investigation with his brainless bimbo assistant Mini.
Based in Durban, Ranvir Singh lives a very wealthy lifestyle along with his slacker and alcoholic brother, Rajiv, and runs a stud farm. He is in love with Sonia and both hope to get married. When Ranvir introduces Sonia to Rajiv, he falls in love with her, and Ranvir decides to let them get married on the condition that he gives up alcohol. When Rajiv promises, the marriage takes place. Their stud farm undergoes a major financial crisis when their rival, Kabir Ahuja, scores at the races, and Ranvir mortgages most of his assets just to survive. Unfortunately, Rajiv continues to drink, Sonia regrets her decision to get married to him, and starts getting intimate with Ranvir. When Rajiv finds out, he decides to kill himself, but instead Ranvir ends up getting killed. Rajiv and Sonia hope to inherit the estate, but they end up getting quite a shock when Ranvir's Personal Secretary, Sophia, claims that she is Ranvir's wife, and decides to keep the estate to herself.
I thought this movie would be cool and all since I enjoy watching action and that stuff but boy was I wrong. This movie did have the action but it was way too predictable and short. When one thing happens, you follow it and then all of a sudden, there's another twist and then you follow that and then all of a sudden there's another twist. This movie alone had about 5-6 twists which was stupid. I wanted to enjoy the whole car race thing at the end but since this movie had all these twists...I was just waiting for another twist which totally ruined everything.
I did not enjoy this movie at all!!!! Please take the time to consider not watching this movie if you don't want to be disappointed.
Whether you are into thriller, action or comedy, Race has a good blend of all three genre. It started off like a bomb and then tells its story and is very entertaining from beginning to end also it had a great setting in Dubai & South Africa. The best thing about the movie is that has a very interesting beginning & ending and they are are the most important scenes because of the the first & and last impression.
The comedy is humorous with excellent dialogues and Johnny Lever's special appearance was so funny that I had a sore stomach and tearful eyes. The thriller had plenty of suspense and you just don't know who is bad, who is good? and who is framing who?. The twists & turns were unpredictable and turned out to be very different from what I was expecting.
Saif Ali Khan, Akshaye Khanna, Bipasha Basu & Anil Kapoor were the best and the all acted really well. Music is rocking and the best songs are Race Saanson Ki (which stands out with its memorable electric guitar intro), Zara Zara and Pehli Nazar Mein. The songs gets better the more times you listen to them and when they are viewed on the big screen.
Abbas-Mustan are known for creating good music in all of their films. They are one of my favourite directors; I loved their films ever since I seen Baazigar because no other director in Bollywood makes thrillers like them. Although they are inspired from Hollywood movies but their films are better than the original which are:

Overall I really liked the film. It was stylish with a great atmosphere, & background score and keeps you entertained in every possible way. Race stands for (Riveting, Awesome, Cool, Excellent).
