Multimode interference (MMI) is a typical self-imaging phenomenon and has been widely exploited for optical devices like couplers and splitters. Usually, it utilizes solid waveguides only and thus has very limited tunability in self-imaging properties. This paper reports our original work on tunable MMI usin Optofluidics.

16 Mar 2017 Here, we review the state-of-the-art in optofluidic research with emphasis on applications in bioanalysis and a focus on waveguide-based approaches that represent the most advanced level of integration between optics and fluidics. We discuss recent work in photonically reconfigurable devices and
Implementation of FCS on a chip requires several steps: lithographic definition of a sub-picoliter fluorescence excitation volume, optical waveguides to guide light to the excitation region, and an efficient way to collect the fluorescence and guide it to the detector. Fig. 1(a) shows schematically how this concept is realized in
Abstract. We report the development of two liquid waveguide based photonic elements for use in reconfigurable photonic systems. This work demonstrates the ability to couple light from a conventional optical fiber to an adaptable liquid-core/liquid-cladding waveguide and back again to an optical fiber(s) enabling us to take
The physics of these mechanisms are described more completely in the preceding paper, Optofluidic Waveguides: I. Concepts and Implementations. The majority of waveguides rely on either Total Internal Reflection (TIR) or wave interference for confinement of optical beams. TIR based waveguides surround a high

1 Jan 2008 We review recent developments and current status of liquid-core optical waveguides in optofluidics with emphasis on suitability for creating fully planar optofluidic labs-on-a-chip. In this first of two contributions, we give an overview of the different waveguide types that are being considered for effectively
Optical waveguides are additionally integrated with the fabricated microchannels by scanning the laser pulse train inside 0.5 ?l minА1. The optical cell detection experiments support potential implementation of a new generation of glass-based optofluidic biochip devices in various single cell treatment processes including.
