8 May 2005 Rick; I had a manual/automatic valve body, Fairbanks, and it was a real good unit. I could shift it manual or let it go through the gears by itself. Nice thing about it, it had an engineered shift kit in it, and shifted HARD, much better than an aftermarket add on kit. It did have a modulator, and adjustable one.

5 Dec 2016 Manual / Automatic Valve Body. The Hughes manual/automatic valve body is designed for street/strip operation. It will let you shift manually or put the shifter into drive and the transmission remains full automatic. This valve body is featured in our street/strip transmissions.
24 Jul 2010 It currently has a 3spd automatic thats pretty awful on the highway. Being a fan of manually shifting my cars, i'm wondering if it would be worth the extra effort to find a shop to do the full manual conversion(bit above my skill level) or to just put in an OD automatic with a manual valve body and a ratchet

IMO I would not recommend a full manual valve body for a street vehicle. It will run full line pressure all the time plus be a pain in the rear to have to constantly shift it. If you want the best of both worlds use a manual/auto valve body; you can put it in D or shift manually if you choose to.
