Bajirao 1, who fought over 41 major battles and many others, was reputed never to have lost a single one of them. Bajirao is described as "RANMARD" a man made of and for the battlefield. An expert dancer, singer and warrior, Mastani is sent to battle at the head of the Bundelkhand army. A chance meeting on a war field where they fight on the same side, puts Bajirao and Mastani on a course of passionate love- that is unstoppable by either of their families, by war or by death itself.

Some thoughts:
Deepika is a good actor but sorely miscast in this one. Neither is she able to bring the passion in those heavy dialogues, nor does she brings any grace to the dances. Well she follows the steps but that's about it. That 'ada' and elegance is missing. Priyanka does it better in 'Pinga' ...and of course, missed Madhuri Dixit's grace in 'Mohe rang do laal'
Priyanka is so good in the movie that I left the theatre feeling for her rather than the lead pair.
Ranveer rocks and nails the character.
The film is missing in plot or cohesive story. But has so much of grandeur that it's impossible to take your eyes off. It's sheer beauty.
The film's music is outstanding. Deewani Mastani, Mohe Rang Do Laal and Aayat are brilliant. Fitoori is not used in the film but is a mesmerising number.
Overall - Quite good. Didn't get bored.
Bajirao Mastani is directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali and stars Ranveer Singh, Deepika Padukone, and Priyanka Chopra. This movie is fantastic. Bhansali did an excellent job as director. As for the acting, only one word can describe the lead trio's performances: BRILLIANT. All the other actors were also very good as their characters. The story follows Peshwa Bajirao (Singh), who is already married to Kashi (Chopra) but falls in love with Mastani (Padukone). It is definitely well-made movie by Bhansali and the crew. As I was watching, it felt a lot like Ram Leela, also directed by Bhansali and starring Singh and Padukone, but it is so much better.
Singh, Padukone, and Chopra give such convincing performances throughout the movie. I could connect with each one of them and look at their characters' perspectives because of how good the performances were. I actually didn't like Padukone's character (not the performance) for most of the 1st half but I ended up liking her at the end. It is a slow movie so you should be patient while watching. The songs were pretty good and so was the dialogue. There are numerous one-liners and they're all great. The costumes and sets were beautiful and made it really look like Maharastra a few centuries ago. And the music is unforgettably good. Finally, the overall message of unconditional love is really powerful.
Now to the negatives. For some of the scenes, they opted to go without sets and instead CGI or green screen. And it didn't look that good. The battle scenes weren't handled too well either since they opted to use CGI and green screen for these too. I understand they weren't the focus of the movie, but they definitely could have been done better. Also, the ending was a bit disappointing. It turned into a some kind of fantasy and it was extremely abrupt. It didn't feel complete. However, that's about it for the negatives.
Enjoyment is the reason I go to movies and the reason I go to watch movies, not satisfaction. And I really did enjoy watching this movie. It has a few flaws but the majority of it is great. With the competition with Bajirao Mastani and Dilwale, Bajirao is CLEARLY the superior film. Guys go check this one out and leave Dilwale for later.
