OK, I have read the appropriate chapters in Lee's and Lyman's Relaoding manuals so I am almost ready to buy the supplies for my first load (75 mile trip). I have decided on a specific recipe in the Lyman's for my 9mm target/informal competition load, but I have some OAL concerns when I compare the load
The Lyman handbook is one place to find the min and max OAL for a particular cartridge and bullet shape. I had one 9mm bullet that was too rounded to fit in the barrel as described above no matter what the OAL - without going below min. The bullet was just too rounded to fit. I had to find one that was more
Hey all, question in regards to using the Hornady OAL tool and finding the proper seating depth. Here's the details first: Rifle = S&W M&P 10 (.308). Loading manual = Lyman 49th. Brass = Hornady once fired (in my rifle). Trimmed to 2.004". Bullet = Hornady SP #3031. Powder = IMR 4064 (43.0 gr). OAL of.
45 ACP (Lyman Reloading Handbook 49th Edition) reloading data with 118 loads. Using bullets from Notes: cases: Remington, Federal; trim-to length: .888"; primers: Remington 2 1/2; primer size: Large Pistol; Lyman shell holder: No. 2; firearm Remarks: max load; 1.135" OAL; 16,600 cup; potentially most accurate load.
27 Aug 2010 Hi guys, I'm just starting to ease into reloading. I have these 9mm 115 grain Berry "Preferred plated bullets" I picked up at the Dillon store. I note the Lyman 49th ed manual on pg 340 has a schematic of a round showing a oal (I think) of 1.169 in. This schematic is unlabeled as to bullet gr or type. I see a table
I was looking to reload some 45 acp with 700x powder. The Lyman manual lists starting load at 3.6 to max of 4.8. Speer starts at 4.6 and goes to 5.1. Seems that Speers starting point is almost max for Lyman. Any opinions of this load and if so what is your oal for 230 grain round nose. I know the maximum
6 Mar 2011 Hello all, First off, I'm a long time lurker, please forgive me! I started working up a 357 mag load for a Ruger Blackhawk today using H110 and the Lyman 358477 boolit, and when I started seating the boolit to what I thought was the crimp groove, the OAL was 1.590". The Lyman manual I was working up the
357 Magnum Handgun (Lyman Reloading Manual 49th Edition) reloading data with 125 loads. Warning! Notes: cases: Federal; trim-to length: 1.280"; primers: CCI 550; primer size: Small Pistol, Magnum; Lyman shell holder: No. Remarks: sugg. start load; 33,900 cup; 1.590" OAL; potentially most accurate load.
9 Jun 2017 First time loading this boolit in .357 magnum. I seated it to the crimp groove and checked OAL. It came to 1.635Lyman manual shows that it should be 1.553 with 1.590 being max OAL for .357 mag. What gives? They chamber fine and don't go past the cylinder face in both my Ruger Blackhawk and S&W
