23 Sep 2010 I hope someone can help with this: I am preparing a paper to submit at a conference and they have a specific compliance requirement not allowing any type 3 fonts (only type 1). I compiled my latex file and uploaded it to their server and it said I had one type 3 font on a couple of pages (3 out of 8 pages).
You can use truetype versions of TeX fonts and/or Type 1 Postscript (BUT NOT Type 3 Postscript) versions of TeX fonts. The fonts used by Creating a pdf file. A conversion program such as Acrobat Distiller creates a pdf file from a ps file. In creating the pdf file you must make sure to embed the fonts. In Distiller select the
1 Mar 2014 rcParams['pdf.fonttype'] = 42 matplotlib.rcParams['ps.fonttype'] = 42. This causes matplotlib to use Type 42 (a.k.a. TrueType) fonts for PostScript and PDF files. This allows you to avoid Type 3 fonts without limiting yourself to the stone-age technology of Type 1 fonts. After specifying this setting, I was able to
Look at the end of the log-file of pdflatex. It will tell you which fonts are included and which are bitmap (pk) fonts.
7 Oct 2005 Hi everybody, Given a PDF file, is there any way to locate where exactly in the document a certain font is used? I am asking this because even though (I think) I am using only Type 1 fonts, the output PDF produced by pdflatex seems to still contain some Type 3 fonts. Here are the font-related packages I am
Modern Type 1 fonts also include "hints" for rendering the fonts at low resolutions (e.g. your monitor). Type 3 fonts, on the other hand, are stored as bitmaps at the appropriate resolution for the print medium. Type 3 fonts rendered by Acrobat Reader look "fuzzy." The trick is to embed Type 1 rather than Type 3 fonts in your
Type 1 - Type 3 - Composite fonts (Type 0): both Type 1 (CIDFontType0) and TrueType (CIDFontType2) are supported. - OpenType: From PDF 1.6 onwards, OpenType fonts can be stored directly in PDF files. In prior releases OpenType fonts are embedded as either Type 1 or TrueType fonts. The ability to embed OpenType
1. Select Fonts in the tab, and then look for the fonts without (Embedded Subset) at the end. For this document Helvetica and TimesNewRomanPSMT need to be embedded. Here is how to embed them: 2. Select File|Print. 3. Under Printer Name select the Adobe PDF. 4. Click Properties button to the right of the Printer Name
then Times fonts will be used (which are not Type 3). If there are mathematical formulas in the text, it is better to use: documentstyle[10pt,times,mathptm,psfig,twocolumn]{article}. Afterwards, you just have to generate the dvi file from file.tex (laTeX file), the PS file (dvips -o file.ps file), and the PDF (ps2pdf file.ps).
11 May 2005 The following are some general font requirements by ACM. Authors should substitute Adobe Postscript Type 1 fonts for any bitmap fonts (e.g., Postscript Type 3 bitmapped fonts, PCL fonts, MacOS bitmap fonts, Windows vector (outline) fonts). Bitmapped fonts display poorly on screen in PDF files and
