Wonder Woman is the rise to form that the DC Extended Universe so desperately needed. It follows the typical origin story formula, but it's more coherently paced and stabilizes the tone much more intelligently than the previous DCEU installments. Gal Gadot nails the role of Wonder Woman with a deft balance of headstrong charisma and comical innocence. The action is stylized and wickedly entertaining, and Diana's naive interactions with real world customs (especially during a time period where women were looked down upon) make for some clever comedic relief. The first act was kinda bland with little exploration and inventiveness put into Diana's home-world, but overall, I thoroughly enjoyed Wonder Woman. It renewed my faith in the DCEU and I pray that the filmmakers continue to learn from their past flaws and produce even better spectacles in the coming years.
Worst part... Right during the beginning they have an Armidillo. That is an animal exclusive to North America... Explain that writers. As usual on any female action movie, the action is slow and blotchy. Only old Kung Fu movies can make women look bad ass (Long Kiss Goodnight is an exception). So... this movie uses exposition time to the point of boredom. Did we need over 10 minutes on the bath scene, that did nothing for the story? OH, then she slams against a cliff, that also does nothing. 36 minutes in, 1.5 hours left? I give up. Thank gods I didn't waste money on this crap.
Honestly, not one of the positive reviews I've read knows a damn thing about the comics. Let's just hope Deadpool 2 doesn't sell out to this wussy, guilt trip, sappy, vomit that is today's media.
For the first time in a long time, I came out of a DC comic book movie feeling ready for a sequel. It feels right, at this actual historical moment, when men made of something less than steel are bumbling around trying to run things. Paging Paradise Island!

Superman: Dawn of Justice and seeing the previously released film does not give any major insight into the story or characters of Wonder Woman. However, this film does begin and end with a framing scene set in modern day, where Diana Prince, the secret identity of Wonder Woman, receives the original glass photo plate of the photograph she took during World War I, which leads into the flashback of the rest of the film. This ties into Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice from a scene where Bruce Wayne discovers a digital copy of the photo which lead to him learning that Diana Prince was Wonder Woman. It's possible to answer this question by comparing the pieces of evidence made available by the film. First, because Diana is the only child on the island, we can assume that Diana's and Themyscira's ages are one and the same. We have no way of knowing how old Diana is in this story, so it makes the most sense to tie her chronological age to Gal Gadot, who was 32 when this movie was released. Second, Greek Mythology's tradition dates back to the 9th century BC, although historians theorize that those written traditions are recording oral history that dates as far back as the 12th century BC. Therefore, by comparing those two time spans, we can postulate that for every year that passes on the island of Themyscira, about 100 years have passed in the world of Man. This estimate of time ratio ( or rather ageing ratio ) is supported by Diana seeming to be almost the same age in the present day, as she was during WW1. No, nothing that happens at the end of Wonder Woman indicates that World War II would no longer happen within the DC Extended Universe movies. This question comes up because Ares, the god of war, is killed by Wonder Woman at the end of the film which leads some viewers to think this means war will never break out among humans again, preventing World War II and any others. However, when Ares reveals his true identity to Wonder Woman he explains that he does not create the desire in humans to start war but that they already have it in them. Ares simply sees the wars that humans make on their own and pushes them along so that it feeds his power. So the death of Ares in this film does not mean that humans would no longer engage in war. A hundred years later, we see in Man of Steel, Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice and Suicide Squad that the nations of the world still have militaries. Also, in a real life historical context, World War II began as a direct result of the sociopolitical climate in Germany after the First World War. Wonder Woman helps to end the First World War, but does not have any part on those larger historical factors which cause Hilter's later rise to power. a5c7b9f00b
