Ruoruni Kenshin is a 30 years old samurai, famous for his ability with the sword, who decided never kill again, and he has to protect the people that he loves from his new and old enemies. This is a wonderful history, full of humanity and love. The fighting sequences, the music, and the songs are excellent too. If you want to see an animated series this is one of the best options.
I'm about to finish watching the entire series now; plus yesterday I finished reading the manga. You should know that with the end of the Kyoto arc (about 2/3 of the series) the manga storyline is dropped - and the animation turns from a magnificent experience into unwatchable crap. Seriously. However, the four episodes of the first OVA are definitely worth watching; for one, they are based on the manga and with the tragic atmosphere (heightened by the excellent seiyuu) it's a truly immersing Ruroken animation.
