10 May 2017 Archaeological work began in 1982 at the site, which is located 800 m (0.5 miles) east of Fengate. Flag Fen is now part of the Greater Fens Museum Partnership. What a great place Flag Fen is. In an hour-long guided tour I learned more about the Bronze Age than I ever did at school. Great exhibits, well displayed, and a very informative commentary by a well-informed guide. Very helpful and pleasant staff, and free use of wheelchair or mobility scooter for those who need it.

This morning I visited Flag Fen and found it really interesting. Our guide Steve took us round the site telling us all about, not only the Flag Fen excavations but also the adjacent site. Artifacts believed to have come from as far away as the Mediterranean along with swords, tools, fine pins and even some ancient material.
