I've got a couple of decent RPM meters, but thought that since the timing light must calculate the RPM to work out the advance a display showing it would come for near The instructions with it aren't clear. .. I've got the Gunson Tachostrobe cheapo version with the spring thingy you put between plug No.1 and the lead.

Its a Gunson Tachostrobe dc, and does the usual timing light thing - hook it up - point it at the pulley - pull trigger and lights flash and the pulley is illuminated. Or remember what that dial does to the timing light? G. I think that's possibly the wrong instruction booklet, ie from a later / more expensive unit.
