17 May 2016 These problems, may on the surface, look fairly simple, however they highlight some of the key reasons of why Abaqus is considered to be the best nonlinear solver around. So starting with a three point bend test we have created a series of examples which demonstrate high quality contact simulation.

Abaqus Tutorial 26: Three point bending. In this tutorial, you will be shown examples which demonstrates high quality contact simulation. The tutorial will work through two exercises covering the main approaches in Abaqus for considering interactions within your model; general contact and the contact pairs approach.
I am modelling a simple transversely isoptropic rod under 3 point bend load. I have assigned the material orientation correctly and the my assembly also looks fine. I am am trying to retrieve the flexural load versus displacement plot through a reference point that I have coupled with loading pin (equation-interaction).

3.2.11 Notched unreinforced concrete beam under 3-point bending. Products: Abaqus provides constitutive models suitable for brittle materials such as concrete in which cracking is important. For more details on this model, see “Concrete damaged plasticity," Section 20.6.3 of the Abaqus Analysis User's Manual.

1.4.4 Crack growth in a three-point bend specimen. Product: Abaqus/Standard. This example illustrates the modeling of crack length versus time to simulate crack propagation and the use of crack opening displacement as a crack propagation criterion. For stable crack growth in ductile materials, experimental evidence
