11 Nov 2010 While a manual transmission isn't available (BMW says that a manual transmission that could handle the engine's torque would be cost-prohibitive), the ZF-manufactured automatic transmission's shifts are perfectly timed and the normally silent engine emits a low but muscular growl under acceleration.

Hi everyone, I just recently purchased a 2011 M-Sport 335d. Since both my E36 and E46 were manuals, my biggest issue with the E90 335d is that it only comes in automatic. Even my Wife is disappointed! :eek: I didn't get the paddle shifters on mine, so it's kind of a downer, even with steptronic.
I found a top quality shop that is willing to swap a manual 6 speed into the 335d (I have a 2011). It's not cheap and it would whack the warrantee, but he claims that it's totally doable. The hardest part is reprogramming the ECU, but he has someone that can do that as well. He's done quite a few auto to
