Adobe X by default opens my PDF/A file read-only; how can I open this file and edit it?
To create a read-only version of a PDF, open the file using Adobe Acrobat. Open Document Security dialog box by clicking File -> Properties and choose Security tab in Document Properties pop-up window. Password Security Settings dialog box will pop up. Check Restrict editing and printing of the document box.
There is no such thing as security as the simple act of sending it by email/chat/etc makes it susceptible to reading. And anybody with a PDF can use public and free services to make it text. David -- I think you've directed me to the solution. When the preview pane is turned on, the open file is 'read only'. Thus I can't save. However, when I turn the preview pane off, then it allows me to save. This only occurs with Adobe PDF files.wonder if Adobe will correct this glitch. Thank you. Michael McDowell
