Adobe X by default opens my PDF/A file read-only; how can I open this file and edit it?
To create a read-only version of a PDF, open the file using Adobe Acrobat. Open Document Security dialog box by clicking File -> Properties and choose Security tab in Document Properties pop-up window. Password Security Settings dialog box will pop up. Check Restrict editing and printing of the document box.

David -- I think you've directed me to the solution. When the preview pane is turned on, the open file is 'read only'. Thus I can't save. However, when I turn the preview pane off, then it allows me to save. This only occurs with Adobe PDF files.wonder if Adobe will correct this glitch. Thank you. Michael McDowell
