In ages past, a malevolent race called the Arakacians discovered a place where space-time leaked an immortality water. The Arakacians conquered the known universe for centuries, and were finally vanquished after the fountain chamber was sealed by freedom fighters. Upon discovery of a shard of the Loc-Nar (the evil orb from the original movie), a miner named Tyler becomes possessed by an insatiable hunger for power and a thirst for immortality. On his way to a planet which has the immortality fountain, Tyler makes a brief stop on F.A.K.K.² (Federation-Assigned Ketogenic Killzone) because its inhabitants carry some immortality water in their bodies. Tyler invades the space colony, wipes out most of the inhabitants, and kidnaps a beautiful woman named Kerrie. Enraged by Tyler's careless rampage, Kerrie's beautiful sister Julie vows to avenge her family and wipe out Tyler before he reaches the fountain.
After surviving an invasion on her peaceful homeworld, a beautiful avenger must stop a powerful psychopath from gaining immortality and rescue her kidnapped sister.
Y'know, I've seen the original. Then I saw this piece of junk. Don't rent it. Only watch it if you are high, or if it is 4am -- and even then, be ready with the clicker.

The cgi/hand-drawn combo animation was in NO WAY seamless, and distracted me to no end. Pick one or the other, please....

The voices were weak -- yes, even Michael Ironside, whom I usually think is excellent as a bad guy doesn't get to use his full range, and often comes off a bit weak when speaking soft dialogue. Julie "take my clothes off for anyone" Strain-Eastman (note the Eastman is her husband, the director!) has a so-so voice, but not for this...she has no talent as a voice over artist. Stick to Penthouse, Julie. Even Billy Idol shines briefly as the soft-spoken Odin, but he falls short in the end of the movie. The rest of the voices are uninspired and boring. Even the monster/non-human character voices are cliche sounding.

The story, if you can call it that, and dialogue were so uninspired and cliche, it was like they ripped them both directly from a porn video. But then Julie Strain would know all about that....

If you want to see nudity, rent a Strain soft-core video.

If you want a classic animated feature, rent the ORIGINAL HEAVY METAL. You'll get a great storyline, interesting characters and voices, AND you'll get your nudity, much, much better done (bonus!)!
After all the surrounding hype that built this one up, I was really, really let down. While the original was uneven in parts due to its anthology nature, it at least had great animation and an excellent soundtrack to hold it up. "Heavy Metal 2000" had a predictable, weak, suspense-free story, and the combo animation didn't mesh together very well. Heck, the traditional cel animation wasn't done very well, either; the shadowing was off and proportions weren't properly held when a character was turning. The colors were as dull and flat as the personalities of the characters.

And why is it the female non-humanoid aliens look like somebody just drew an alien head on a humanoid female body?
