When Branch, an ambitious, young deputy decides to run against him for sheriff, Longmire feels betrayed but remains steadfast in his dedication to the community. Longmire often turns to close friend and confidant Henry Standing Bear for support as he sets out to rebuild both his personal and professional life, one step at a time.
I was unaware of this TV series until recently. I don't know which network carries fresh episodes but I came across it on Netflix streaming. I've watched the first three episodes and find it to be interesting and satisfying entertainment. Most episodes are about 42 minutes long.
Set in a rural area of Wyoming, Australian actor Robert Taylor is Sheriff Walt Longmire. He has a quiet calm about him, rarely communicates more than is necessary, but there always seems to be a lot going on under the surface. He has a knack for picking up quickly on clues to solve a crime, often murder.
While there is a small amount of continuing story among the regulars in essence each episode is stand-alone, in that a new crime arises to solve with no connection to crimes in prior episodes. In truth the crimes are just rehashing crimes we have already seen, some many times. The fun in this show is mainly the characters and how they interact with others, including their co-workers.
One deputy is cute 30-something Katee Sackhoff as Victoria 'Vic' Moretti. She is pretty good at her job but often is left behind to do follow-up work, when she seems to want to get closer to the action.
Lou Diamond Phillips is Native American Henry Standing Bear, a 30+ year friend of Longmire's. he often works with Walt to help provide information to solve a crime.
Cute 30-something Cassidy Freeman is Walt's daughter Cady Longmire and works for a local attorney. As it works out she is dating, unknown so far to her dad, Bailey Chase as deputy Branch Connally who also happens to be running against Longmire in the upcoming election.
While I am not excited by this TV series it is a good series and interesting enough that I will episodes from time-to-time when I have 45 or so minutes to kill.
I love Lou, and he's done his best to play Natives as well as can be expected. At least he looks the part, but come on, I'm native, lived on several reservations, and also have a BS degree in microbiology. Lou's language is not even close to what a real native would sound or talk like. He needs to add enit, ewww, and many other slang terms used on the rez which are common ways of tongue to anyone who has lived and understands the way Indians talk. Its not the same as the way some inner city blacks talk, but has it's own natural flavor nonetheless. Come on Lou, do some real research, or let a real Native show how its done, or spoken.
