May 11, 2014 I could have bought a level but I liked the idea of being able to rotate the scope vertically. To that end, after a little research, I decided that I'd like to get a David White 8300 transit. It seemed like a good one and after watching Ebay for a bit I found one on Craigslist with a tripod for less than I'd seen on Ebay.

The model 8300 Level Transit by David White is (in our opinion) the best level transit ever made, bar none. with the original fiberglass dome case (well worn, but no cracks, and the handle and latches are solid), sunshade, dust cap, plumb bob, and a photo copy of the owners manual (includes parts drawing and list.
