Together with children 'Ashu', 'Immu' and 'Mooli', the Burka Avenger fights the evil magician 'Baba Bandook' and his henchmen, corrupt politician 'Vadero Pajero' and other villains. The Burka Avenger TV series comprises of 52 episodes of 22 minutes each. In addition, many of the episodes contain original songs especially composed for the series by well known Asian superstars including Ali Zafar, Ali Azmat, Josh, Haroon, Adil Omar and many others. The humour transcends culture and language, depicting positive female and male characters as they embark on action packed adventures set around a moral theme or social message. If you are a non Pakistani watching this, then this cartoon opens your eyes to how similar our values, personalities and humour can be- regardless of cultural differences. More people need to watch this and this needs to be translated into many languages, much like 'Dora the Explorer'. Being from Pakistan when I first heard of out own TV series I was bolted with enthusiasm and seeing it was to some way be the platform for future television in Pakistan I was delighted, but the show that I met was one that I forced myself to watch as all it did was aim for the most cliché plots and unrealistic scenes. The characters especially the villains were all so poorly constructed with no character development at all. And the fact that all villains were men and all heroine were either girls or children just seemed to show that the maker (female ) showed no regard to men at all . The plot for each episode was too obvious and I could guess the outcome of all episodes. All in all it was a valiant effort but truly it was a poor show for all that watched. And to all of you from Pakistan who will despise me for my words look at this TV show and judge it not as a TV show from Pakistan but as any other TV shows.
