He follows the couple, kills the man and helps the delivery of the baby in the middle of a shootout while a gang of hit-man tries to shoot them up. The woman is killed but Smith saves the baby, escaping from Hertz, the leader of the killers. Then he meets the prostitute Donna Quintano, who has just lost her baby, and asks her to breastfeed the newborn. They are chased by Hertz and Smith discovers the reason why the bad guy wants to kill the baby.A man named Mr. Smith delivers a woman's baby during a shootout, and is then called upon to protect the newborn from the army of gunmen.This was a pure adrenaline rush. Clive Owen can run circles around Angelina Jolie with her curving bullets. I felt like I was on a roller coaster ride and I didn't want to get off.
Paul Giamatti was perfect as the head of the bad guys who were trying to take Owen down. He pulled so many amazing tricks, that I could not imagine that anyone could come up with a sequel. They just couldn't think of anything else for him to do.
And, they couldn't come up with anymore lines like the ones in this film. There were so many gut-busting laughs, I though I was watching a comedy. Well, maybe I was.
Monica Bellucci was simply gorgeous and make a superb match for Owen. Their chemistry was pure magic.
I haven't seen a movie this fun in ages.This joke of a film has no redeemable features. It offers poor jokes, poor script, poor acting and a flimsy plot. The action isn't particularly rewarding, even though one would be entitled to hope that it would be, what with it being called 'Shoot 'Em Up' and all...
You know, I love shoot-'em-ups. Quake, Call of Duty, Halo - these are all great games. But this is an awful film. Clive Owen is an unconvincing lead, Paul Giammatti puts in a (rare) sup-par performance, and Monica Bellucci is - as always - wonderful window dressing but sorely lacking when called upon to actually ACT.
So yeah: keep your pennies and go watch 'Crank' instead. It's much more fun.
Thanks, KMIt sets a tone, all right. A lot of gamers (sorry, "filmgoers") may well enjoy writer-director Michael Davis' ultraviolent lark. It's not meant to be taken seriously. But films like this are worth taking seriously because they're genuinely cruddy and hollow and, yes, vile.Opening shootout / birth scene - "Breed" by Nirvana.
