I'm not much of a Lancer, but I learnt to effectively do Lancing its learning how to do the Side-Steps and the 3-Poke combo in succession without having to sheath your weapon too much. Guard Lancing is less side-stepping and more poking but atleast it keeps you safe rather than the the slightly more risky

The main reason for Lance dealing so much damage is the change to its charge move. The charge already dealt top tier DPS in MH4U, but now not only did the finisher get buffed from 50 motion value to 70 in Striker style (= 40% damage buff) but the end lag of the charge got reduced as well, making it easier to spam (using
