He's found his mojo, baby, and now Austin Powers is back again in this shagadelic comedy-adventure! The "sshhh!" hits the fan when Dr. Evil and Mini-Me escape from prison. Joining forces with the superfreaky Goldmember, they kidnap Austin's father, master spy Nigel Powers, in a dastardly time-travel scheme to take over the world. Before you can say "Shake Your Booty," Austin cruises to 1975 and teams up with sexy Foxxy Cleopatra to stop Dr. Evil and Goldmember from their mischievous mayhem.
Upon learning that his father has been kidnapped, Austin Powers must travel to 1975 and defeat the aptly named villain Goldmember, who is working with Dr. Evil.
This is the third installment of the Austin Powers Spy series. Personally, I thought it was the funniest of the three movies. It not only spoofs the Blaxploitation films of the 70's but Harry Potter and other up to date movies. It has a large ensemble of cameos most notably was Danny Devito as Mini me and Nathan Lane. The movie is not just a comedy but also a musical, where we see Dr. Evil and Mini-me do a rendition of Hard Knock Life (Jay-Z) it is one of the funniest scenes in the movie. Beyonce Knowles does a suprisingly good in her acting debut. And Mike Myers, Michael Caine are good in it. I would see it again. Very Funny movie.
First of all, this review is by a big Powers fan. This is the poorest show of comedy i have ever seen! jokes are just recycled ones from 1 and 2, and Myers has also seen fit to add jokes that were in the deleted scenes of the dvd to the 2nd film.
The opening 5 mins are mildly amusing, but the rest is dull and lifeless. Who said Caine can do comedy? because he is weaker that Bill Gates in this one. Beyonce Knowles should stick to singing (so should Britney, what a cruddy cameo).
The story is disjointed and lacks continuity on Powers' part (what ever happened to Falicity?) Other scenes are just pathetic and fail to raise a chuckle (see jail sequence).
The only reason worth watching this film is to say that you have seen the trilogy. It offers very little and costantly goes for cheap over-used gags. Not funny, not original, not a good way to end the film's witty series.
Nothing to write home about, though nothing to stay home about either, especially if you're a dyed-in-the-polyester Powers fan.
