If it's the NV5600, Geno's sells the BD short shift kit which IIRC does reposition the stick for better comfort, if you don't want to risk bending. One thing I would recommend is marking the shift lever before removing it so that you know the relationship of the lever when it's in it's tightened position. That way
got me some bling. . . they were on a slight back order, however I like the results. . .looks very slick anyway, to the shifter. here is what the stock shifter looks like for the NV5600. . .and as you can see I have a slightly inverted H pattern to remove the old ball just get a small flat tip and pry the center cap out.

29 Dec 2005 NV5600 gear shift knob Archive: Technical Info: 3rd Generation. I wanted a 4WD,SWB,QUAD CAB with 4.10 gears and the NV5600. I finally found one in Hudson,Wisconsin. I live in Texas tim, how do you remove the center console/cup holder. need to see what i need to fabricate for the hurst. i,m back!!

NV5600 shift pattern on knob rotates - use a small screwdriver to pry it out and reseat it.
1 Oct 2012 i have tried to twist/turn the knob and i tried to pry the 1,2,3,4,5,R off ith a small flatblade. all of this is just tearing it up. i want to keep.
20 Oct 2002 You have to take the "1-2-3-4-5-R" decal off the top of the shifter with a screwdriver or a knife. Then loosen the nut inside and then you can unscrew the ****. The shift lever it's self comes off by pulling up on it. Just get a good hold on the lever and pull straight up on it in neutral. That's how I got

Haven't looked at it TOO close, but I'm wondering if it's threaded or pressed onto splines on the shaft.Am I just being a pansy about this or what?Allan.
