Contrary to popular belief, mil-dots aren't used to compensate for the drop of the bullet. Rather, it is used to estimate the range of an object of known size. In this guide, we are going to explore how to apply real life manual rangefinding to Battlefield. If you are new to the concept, go to this link provided:
I started playing with BF4's new scope zeroing adjustment last night, and had a blast doing so. . For me, a 100m shot was aimed more like your 200m holdover in relation to the mil dot with a strong 6 o'clock hold off the first mil, and my 200m shot was closer to . In Battlefield 3, the scope itself appears to be based on an amalgam of various Barska and ZOS sniper scopes, while the Battlefield 4 version is based on a combination of The differences between the two are that the Rifle Scope has two zoom levels depending on the weapon, has a larger field of view, and uses a mil-dot
When you look through many magnifying Battlefield 4 scopes, you'll see a Mil-dot reticle. - A what? A military dot? Um Not so much? No. Mil is short for milliradian. (OK, those of you who are now having a minor lecture panic, chill out. I will need to say a bit though, for this guide to make sense.) The dots
21 Feb 2014 I don't know if you guys know this, but you can actually long range snipe using real-life equations and mil dots. If you know the yes, but in BF4 a .308 bullet from two different rifles drops at different rates. the SRR-61 has a 6 m/s bullet drop, where the CS-LR4 and most others drop at real gravity, 9.81 m/s.

Since I am at work, I can't test this out right now. Anyone currently playing, it would be great if you can test out the rangefinding ability of the mildot scopes. I am sure it wont work, but I would like to know. The basic formula is "size of target in meters" x 1000, over the number of mils it takes to stack your target.
